so for the past, oh, four days I've been sick. not like I'm-going-to-puke-up-my-dinner sick but it's-beastly-hot-so-I'm-going-to-get-a-cold sick. yeah, I don't understand the logic either. anyway, the baby has been taking it well... I mean, it's been difficult to try and get out all of his energy in the few hours before bed after coming home. and that's especially difficult when you feel like crap. luckily dave picked up some of the slack, but bowser's attitude on peeing created a red level alert on the dave-frustration front. I was able to take him out so that dave didn't do something rash (like feed him to the pasta plus cats), but I wasn't able to really play with him like he deserves. he's only (almost) 10 weeks old and though he'll probably be more of a sedentary dog than an active one (come on... look at who the owners are), but while he's young, he should have a consistent routine for exercise. I'm sure it will help his development... and hey, in the long run, a healthy dog won't pee as much, right? :)
one thing that is starting to concern me is bowser's tendency to bite... hard. I understand that he is teething, but I'm afraid that he will keep the habit post-teething. dave and I have been good about saying, "no" and giving him alternate things to chew on ('mouse' and 'rope' among others). I'm hoping that this stays in his mind as much as everything else... since we seem to be overwhelming him with information about do this and do that.
it has certainly been a long week... well, not even a week, since we got him. I definitely don't regret getting bowser. I think that it's been frustrating for many reasons: the heat has been unbearable and has brought out the shortest of tempers, our inexperience in dealing with things that pee *that* much, our inability to spend a lot of quality time (both working full time with a half hour commute). I am certainly not placing blame on any one thing, but it is definitely coming out to be a tremendous learning experience, and I'm happy for the opportunity.
that being said, it's time to let the peeing wonder out for a last huzzah before setting him down to bed (crate?). I'm still not 100% and dave's sacked out on the couch so it'll be early bedtime for everyone. I'm looking forward to sleeping through the night courtesy of the all-night-sniffling-sneezing-coughing-so-you-don't-care-when-your-nose-starts-dripping-on-your-pillow medicine. :)
